Unlike hospital-based diagnostic imaging, POCUS delivers immediate clinical information to guide decisions in real time. In low-resource settings like rural Uganda, where access to specialist imaging is limited, obstetric POCUS is a powerful tool for improving maternal and newborn outcomes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;20px||20px||true|false&#8221; text_font_size_tablet=&#8221;&#8221; text_font_size_phone=&#8221;14px&#8221; text_font_size_last_edited=&#8221;on|phone&#8221; text_line_height_tablet=&#8221;&#8221; text_line_height_phone=&#8221;1.4em&#8221; text_line_height_last_edited=&#8221;on|phone&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>In February and March 2026, Well On their Way (WOtW) achieved a long-held goal: delivering hands-on obstetric point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) training to ten midwives in Gulu, Uganda. Funded by an anonymous donation, this program gave frontline midwives the skills and tools to use portable ultrasound at the bedside \u2014 improving their ability to monitor pregnancies, detect complications early, and refer mothers for specialist care when needed.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; Some trainees acquired confidence quickly; others need more time and support.
