This was followed by two other trips to Kenya with her husband Matthew Kane, three months as medical students, and a year (1985-86) working at Tumutumu Hospital in Karatina. After raising three children and working in primary care, she started to participate in global health again, including several trips to Haiti and participation with Interplast in China and Vietnam. However, it was the work in northern Uganda that kept calling her back. The resilience of the Acholi people after suffering for so long during the war, the commitment of the health workers in northern Uganda to their people, the health workers’ enthusiasm for training, and their hard work to continue to pass that training on to their colleagues, are sources of great inspiration to her. She is enthusiastic about WOtW’s expansion since its inception in 2023, in particular the VHT training and the introduction of obstetric Point of Care Ultrasound. “I look forward to many future trips to Gulu, strengthening the partnership with the WOtW Uganda team, and expansion of the work that is being done together to ensure that every mother and baby get a healthy start…and are well on their way!”
After many years of affectionately being called “Jaja” (Grandmother) and “Papa” (Grandfather) by the Ugandan team members, Ann and Matthew are particularly happy to have recently welcomed their first grandchild to the world.

” social_section_align=”center” icon_color=”#FFFFFF” icon_background_bgcolor=”#42464e” content_margin=”-60px||||false|false” content_padding=”70px|40px|29px|40px|false|true” social_wrapper_margin=”|-40%||-40%|false|true” social_wrapper_padding=”|20%||20%|false|true” role_margin=”11px||17px||false|false” social_padding=”7px|7px|7px|7px|true|true” _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” name_font=”Roboto Slab|300|||||||” name_text_color=”#42464e” name_font_size=”22px” name_line_height=”36px” role_font=”Roboto|700|||||||” role_line_height=”26px” description_font=”Nunito||||||||” description_line_height=”24px” content_text_align=”center” background_color=”#FFFFFF” border_radii_content_border=”on|3px|3px|3px|3px” border_radii_photo_wrapper_border=”on|3px|3px|3px|3px” box_shadow_style_content_shadow=”preset1″ box_shadow_vertical_content_shadow=”0px” box_shadow_blur_content_shadow=”16px” box_shadow_style_image_wrapper_shadow=”preset3″ box_shadow_vertical_image_wrapper_shadow=”5px” box_shadow_blur_image_wrapper_shadow=”10px” global_colors_info=”{}” icon_background_bgcolor__hover_enabled=”off|hover” icon_background_bgcolor__hover=”#1c9cea”][/difl_advanced_person][difl_advanced_person ap_photo=”https://wellontheirway.org/dev/wp-content/uploads/Dr.-Linda-Cohen.png” photo_alt_text=”Dr. Canna Kenneth” enable_alternative_photo=”on” image_wrapper_max_width=”80%” image_wrapper_zindex=”2″ ap_name=”Linda Cohen, M.D.” ap_description=”

<p style=%22text-align: left;%22>Linda Cohen, M.D. has been a practicing pediatrician for more than 40 years.
