Stay Connected:

We arrived in high spirits after a long flight from the US and a drive up to northern Uganda.  After a lively opening dinner, we spent Monday meeting with our Ugandan colleagues and reviewing our progress over the past year. Although we had success in implementing our planned goals it was even better having a chance to see and interact with  all of our wonderful partners. My favorite highlight was when we called and had a Zoom meeting with the Well On their Way Advisory Board in the US and our Ugandan colleagues.  It was wonderful to see the connections that were quickly made over the 8,000 mile distance. One of the most interesting responses came when an advisory board member asked a midwife what she was most looking forward to during the week. She responded that when we all go to visit one of the remote health centers, she was excited to make a side stop to show us Fort Patiko. This is an old colonial fort and one of the few remaining structures from that era.  We were also marveling at how many of the board members and our colleagues are twins or have close relatives who are twins.

Tomorrow we are excited to start our training of Pre-referral Care if High Risk of Preterm Birth, a WHO program.
